How to spot fake supplements

Checklist before you buy or use

  • Buy from a shop or website that sources from the brand or an authorised distributor, and ask for a proper bill.
  • Be suspicious of prices far below every other seller.
  • The seal, printing and lid should look the same as the brand’s official pack.
  • Batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates should be clearly printed, not stuck on or smudged.
  • Check that the FSSAI licence number and manufacturer address are printed on the label.
  • Odd smell, clumps or an unusual taste is a reason to stop and contact the seller.

If you doubt a product

Do not use it. Keep the pack and the bill and contact the seller; you can also write to the brand.
