How to choose whey protein in India

Concentrate, isolate and hydrolysed

Whey concentrate is the most common and usually the best value. Whey isolate is filtered further, so it has more protein per scoop and less lactose and fat. Hydrolysed whey is pre-digested and usually costs the most.

If regular whey is fine for your stomach, concentrate or a blend is usually enough. If dairy or lactose bothers you, try an isolate.

Read the label

  • Protein per serving: divide the grams of protein by the scoop size. Higher is better value.
  • Price per 100 g of protein, not price per pack — compare brands on the same basis.
  • Ingredients: protein should be listed first; long lists of fillers and sweeteners are a warning sign.
  • Batch number and expiry date should be printed clearly and the seal should be intact.

How much do I need?

Most active people need about 1.4 to 2 g of protein per kg of body weight a day from all sources. Whey is a convenient top-up, not a replacement for meals. Check with a doctor or dietitian if you have kidney disease or another medical condition.
